Read Ge’ez on Android phones

I’m writing this very post using my Samsung SII phone and I’ve discovered something that might help some of you who use any “rooted” Android phone. Unfortunately my phone didn’t come with the ability to render Ge’ez fonts “out of the box”; so it doesn’t display any Ge’ez letters (ሰላም), just those annoying undefined boxes […]

a little house-cleaning

Okay I’ve fixed, yet again, the sound in the fidel section, so everyone should be able to hear my horrible voice now. I also made a small change to the mltgk transliteration section, so people can type longer sentences and use the Ge’ez punctuation easier. Secondly a helpful reader has pointed me towards a new […]

A few more keyboard changes…

There. I think I’ve simplfied the keyboard even more by changing the second keystroke for the 6th/null order (ብ = “bb,” etc…) all to “I” (ብ = “bI,” etc…). I’m sure most of you don’t care about such a small detail, but I think it will be simpler this way ***Update*** – and I’ve just […]

New on the Eritrean dictionary scene…

After months of delay, Asmarino.com has now completed its metamorphosis to become Delina.com. Asmarino.com is one of the oldest Eritrean community websites still running (the other is Dehai.org). It is based in the US, completely independent and serves as a forum for those Eritreans who oppose the Eritrean government or it’s politics. It’s also multilingual […]

I don’t think anyone will notice but…

There has been a small addition to the message board. It was difficult/impossible to edit posts due to bugs in the coding, when I added the Ge’ez function, so I have added a small check box to toggle on/off the buggy feature. This doesn’t fix the problem but it makes it more manageable.

New feature for a quiet forum…

I just finished adding a feature to the message board, that is so coolly named, “The School Yard“. The feature is that you can type in Tigrinya (Ge’ez letters) without the aid of a separate program. All you need is to download and install the proper font (“GF Zemen Unicode“) and remember the special table […]
