EriTV – Streaming Live On The Net

Most people in the Erispora (a cute portmanteau of “Eritrean” & “Diaspora;” of which I’m not the first to use…) already know this, so this post is for all of you  non-Eritreans.

Eastafro.com is streaming Eritrean television (EriTV) free on the Internet for anybody to watch. So for all of you Tigrigna students who wished that you could practise hearing the language, but wasn’t interested in the (universally political) web-radio out there, this is your opportunity. EriTV broadcasts in many different Eritrean languages (Tigre, Arabic, even English), but the core of the main programing is in Tigrigna.

This is a great way to learn, not only the Tigrigna language but, a lot of the cultural subtleties that are important in everyday social situations. It’s like you’re in Eritrea when you haven’t even left your house. Here’s the link once more. I hope everyone takes full advantage of this and puts it to good use.
