Foreign Service Institute (FSI)

What is the FSI?

(It) is the Federal Government’s primary training institution for officers and support personnel of the U.S. foreign affairs community, preparing American diplomats and other professionals to advance U.S. foreign affairs interests overseas and in Washington.

Now one of the jobs of this department is to develop complete and comprehensive language courses to assist US government personnel sent overseas. Since the US government has personnel in almost every country of the world they have a lot of foreign language courses.

fsi-language-courses.com is a website that has collected a bunch of these language courses that are in public domain. I have to say that ever since I found this website it has become a favourite of mine. They even have an old 1964 Amharic language course textbook and taped practice drills.
