A poet’s soul
Poetry is good for learning a language; not only does it familiarize you with novel ways meaningful sentences can be constructed, the verses are often small and concise. This can be a big relief to Tigrinya language newcomers as small verses are a lot less intimidating then tackling an entire newspaper article.
Also, remember that analyzing poetry is a standard in all higher level language classes; it adds a certain charm and interest in language learning, which might otherwise be very boring. For this, and many more other reasons, I will shine a small spotlight on the late and well-known Eritrean poet: Reesom Haile.
There is a great wealth of his poetry floating around on the internet, one needs only to look.
